Our Story
ShipMyRoom was founded by Cameron Magalotti and his father during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a student at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts — hundreds of miles from his hometown — Cameron experienced firsthand the stress and challenges of moving in and out of college. The distance made it difficult for his family to help, and he quickly realized that countless other students and parents across the country were facing the same struggles.
This experience inspired the creation of ShipMyRoom: a company designed to take the stress out of student moves. What began as a solution for families like theirs has since grown into a reliable service trusted by students, parents, and colleges nationwide.
From day one, ShipMyRoom’s mission has been simple: to provide user-friendly, affordable, and flexible packing, storage, and shipping solutions tailored specifically for college students. During the pandemic, when campuses closed suddenly and belongings were left behind, ShipMyRoom partnered with schools to safely pack, store, and return items. By combining technology with professional, hands-on service, the team ensured that each student’s belongings were returned safely and securely — quickly becoming a trusted resource during a time of uncertainty.
